What is it?
Tae Kwon Do is the new name given to the ancient Korean art of self-defence. Tae Kwon Do which has been practiced in Korea for 2000 years, emphasizes foot and leg techniques as well as hand skill. "Tae" means kicking, jumping or flying with the feet. "Kwon Do" means Art of foot and Hand Self Defence. Because of the powerful use of the legs and hands, Tae Kwon Do is one of the most effective arts and therefore should only be used in life threatening situations. Master Lee's Tae Kwon Do School , as part of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, is recognized by the Olympic Committee.
